Well we timed it just right betwen feeding and had an opportunity to get out and enjoy the great weather. We visited the highest point in Istanbul, Chamlaja. It was a great easy trip. Landon was great in fact i dont know that he woke up the entire three hours!

My Tutor

We are Ready!!

It ssems like when you begin to think about having a child nine months really does seem far away. But the time has flown by us. We are now ready to have the baby! Rebecca is doing great and we should be able to see little Landon before long.

Why Do I Buy The Cheap Stuff??

Have you ever been in the store and you are looking at something you want but there may be two or three different brands . Which one do you buy? Well for me unfortuantely i usually go for the cheap one. And that is the case with these masonary drill bits. Here in Turkey all the walls are concrete. So in order to hanf picture or anything else you have to use masonary bits to drill the holes. I went to buy some bits and I saw two ore three different brands and as you can see i went for the cheap one. This bit just deformed while I was using it. I guess it is true you get what you pay for.

It's Mardi Gras time...

I think most of you out there will appreciate the fact that a friend (Elizabeth Johnson) and I made a King Cake the other day! We didn't have the appropriate green, purple, and gold food coloring, so we settled for red. Think of it as a Valentine's Day King Cake. I hope to have the chance to make another one because this one was SOOOO good!!

5 WEEKS TO GO!!

Can you believe it only 5 more weeks and we are parents! I wanted to show all of you the growing mom. I think that she is really ready for little Landon to visit us on the outside.

Snow Skiing in Turkey

I know it is hard to believe but i was able to go snow skiing last Thursday. I went to a place called KarTepe. It is only about two and half hours outside of Istanbul. This place was no Colorado but it was nice. The other thing was how cheap it was. For a whole day of skiing and rentals with lift tickets was only $40. That is a good deal.

A Snowy Day for Rebecca's Birthday!

Today is cold day in Istanbul. We have had snow for the last day or so and it is expexcted to continue for the next few days. We decided to get out and enjoy the snow. Here are a few pictures from our adventure.

I Never Knew ORANGES were soo goood!!

For some reason in the States i really wasnt that big of a fruit eater, but here things are so different. The fruit here is unbeleivable. Right now we have alot of oranges and strawberries in season. I have found myself sitting and eating six or seven oranges at a time. They also have mandelinas right now. These are kind of like tangerines. On that note does anyone know the difference between a tangerine, satsuma, or a mandelina?

Engineers BEWARE

Have you ever wondered what people were thinking when they do some things. This is a picture of a building next to our apartment that was started well before we came and was then abandoned. After seeing the picture it is not to hard to see that planning ahead was not this contractors strong suit. I have heard of being enviromentally friendly but i think this is taking it a little to far.

Think this could catch on in America

This is ust one of the normal sights here in Istanbul. This is a mosque with a grocery store in the bottom floor. Talk about convenience you go say your prayers 5 times a day and if you happen to need some groceries just pop in.

A Few Days of Snow before Christmas

This is a picture of the street across from our house about two days before Chrsitmas. We are finally living in a place that has a real possibility to have snow on Christmas Day! Most of this snow did not stick but it did snow for almost a solid day. I dont think i want to drive on this hill in the snow!

Yes i know it si probably something most people get real excited about but it is one ofthe few things they have in this country that can be made like the ones in the States. Just a question to put out there, Why didnt anyone ever tell me it cost so much to have a child?

Sonic Flood In Istanbul

This week has been a crazy week! I have had the job of driving and translating for Sonic Flood and the film crew that came with them. This was so much fun! The guys shots video all over the city and played in a night club in Istanbul. It was an awesome sight to see.
