We made it!!

We made it to the States without any major problems. Landon did great on all the planes and even managed a nap in his tent in Amsterdam! We've been enjoying time with Scott's family. Now we're in Ruston at Scott's brother's house. Landon has been adjusting to all the new faces and places really well. We are looking forward to seeing our friends in Minden on Sunday. I'm especially looking forward to seeing my family next week! I'll post pictures later. Thank you for all of your prayers! Please continue praying for our time in the States.

Gone for a walk

Landon and I went for a walk today. He wore his hat since is cold and windy here now. I didn't realize until we got home that the hat wasn't doing much for his ears! He loves to chew on things. Strings are especially good!

Still growing

I forgot to mention that Landon went to the doctor yesterday. He weighs 18 pounds and 4 ounces. He's 27 inches long. This means he's at about the 50th percentile for both height for age and weight for age. When the doctor saw him she said that he looked thin and that she didn't think he had gained much weight. THEN she picked him up. Her reaction was, 'Oh, he's so heavy!' I think Landon just hides his weight well:)

Our Trip to Istanbul

Last week we took a trip to Istanbul. We were supposed to leave Tuesday morning on the ferriboat, but because of high winds we were not able to leave until Tuesday night. We were language tested, had our teeth cleaned, visited our old neighbors, shopped at the Grand Bazaar, and ate some great food. We stayed with our good friends Billy and Elizabeth. They have a little girl the same age as Landon.

Today there were some people moving into the building across from us. I happened to look out the window when one of the movers was taking in the refrigerator. It's hard to believe that this is the normal way of moving appliances and furniture. It's a one-man job in this country. And generally, it's the oldest mover that moves the heavy stuff! All of these movers were about the same age - maybe they flipped a coin! The guy in the orange shirt is just supervising!

I think he'll be crawling soon. Although, he's got to have great motivation (like a remote control or telephone) to do these moves. Generally he's content to look at his toys from a distance or to squeal until I get them for him. But, for the remote he'll go the distance!

Landon started eating green beans the other day. At first he didn't think much of them, but today he did great! He still complains a little, but will swallow anyway.

Yogurt and Rice Cereal

Landon is eating yogurt and rice cereal now. He has taken a liking to the yogurt. I thought it would take a little while for him to like it because it's more sour and tart than the rice cereal, but he really likes it. He makes such a mess!

We found the pool!!

We have finally discovered the ONLY pool in our city! It's on the top floor of the nicest hotel. It costs about $3 per person to use the pool all day. We had some friends visit from Istanbul, so we took the kids to the pool. Landon really enjoyed the water this time. I think he's finally getting used to it. He kicked around the whole time. He wasn't too happy being on his back, but loved it on his tummy. He looked like a little frog kicking with both legs at the same time!

The Johnny Jump Up is up!

Well, it's taken a few weeks, but we've finally got it up! Scott had to put a bar in a doorway so Landon's Johnny Jump Up would work. We don't have any doorways that it will attach to on it's own.
